The first secret character ever in a fighting videogame is Reptile, who appeared in Mortal Kombat (Midway, 1992).


Unlocking the fight with Reptile requires that the player obtain two Flawless Victories in the stage 'The Pit' without blocking in single player mode. In addition, this has to be done whilst a silhouette is visible in front of the moon in the stage's background, which occurred once every sixth game.
