Shields won her first professional belts (WBC and IBF super-middleweight) in her fourth fight, against Nikki Adler on 4 August 2017. She dropped down to middleweight to face Hanna Gabriels on 22 June 2018, claiming the WBA and IBF titles via unanimous decision. She became a four-belt undisputed middleweight champion before adding the vacant WBC and WBO super-welterweight titles against Ivana Habazin on 10 January 2020.
