Billie Eilish (USA, b. Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O’Connell, 18 December 2001) was 18 years 39 days old when she was announced as the winner of the Record of the Year Grammy – for “Bad Guy” – at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards, staged at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, USA, on 26 January 2020.

Sam Smith (b. 19 May 1992) and Kimbra (b. Kimbra Johnson, 27 March 1990) were 22 years 265 days old and 22 years 320 days old, respectively, when they won Record of the Year at the Grammys – Smith for “Stay with Me” (Darkchild’s version) at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards on 8 February 2015, and Kimbra as a guest vocalist on Gotye’s “Somebody that I Used to Know” at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards on 10 February 2013.

“Bad Guy” topped the US Hot 100 singles chart on 24 August 2019 – Eilish’s first American No.1. It was the track that brought the record 19-week chart-topping run of Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Old Town Road” to an end.

Record of the Year is considered to be one of the Grammys’ “big four” categories, and Eilish became the first female artist to win the Grammys’ “big four” awards at a single ceremony when she was also named the recipient of the Album of the Year (for When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?), Song of the Year (for “Bad Guy”) and Best New Artist awards.
