When Jamal Crawford scored 51 points off the bench while playing for the Phoenix Suns in a 120-109 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on 9 April 2019, it was the most points ever scored by a player coming off the bench since starts first began to be recorded in the 1970-71 season. Crawford also became the first player to score 50 or more points in a game for four different franchises, doing so for the Suns, Golden State Warriors, Chicago Bulls, and New York Knicks.
