Roger Federer (Switzerland) contested the final of the ATP Tour 500 Swiss Indoors tournament in Basel on 15 occasions between 2000 and 2019. He has won the tournament 10 times (2006–08, 2010–11, 2014–15, 2017–19) and finished runner-up five times (2000–01, 2009, 2012–13).

The Swiss Indoors event is one of a record nine tournaments won at least five times by Federer on the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) Tour. Rafael Nadal is the only player to win a single tournament more than 10 times, and he’s done it on three occasions: at the French Open (12 titles), the Monte-Carlo Masters (11) and the Barcelona Open (11). However, the Spaniard has lost only one final at those three events – at the Monte-Carlo Masters in 2013 – and has therefore not contested as many finals at a single tournament as Federer has at the Swiss Indoors.

On the WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) Tour, by comparison, Martina Navratilova’s 14 finals at Chicago’s now-defunct Ameritech Cup (12 wins and two defeats) and 13 finals at the Eastbourne International (11 wins, two defeats) lead the way.

If all tennis tournaments (pro and amateur) are considered, Herbert Roper Barrett’s (UK, 1873–1943) 18 finals at the Suffolk Championships (held in Saxmundham) between 1898 and 1921 and Dan Maskell’s (UK, 1908–92) 17 finals at the British Pro Championships between 1928 and 1950 top the list.
