The highest helicopter devil stick toss is 6.40 m (21 ft) and was achieved by Carlos Mir (USA), in Ocean City, Maryland, USA, on 8 September 2024.
Carlos also currently holds a Guinness World Records title for the 'Highest throw and catch of a diabolo' in 2015 with 23.92 m (78 ft 5 in). For this record attempt, Carlos set up a cross bar on a second-floor balcony as a reference point. He then stood on the lower level and tossed the devil stick high into the air before successfully catching and controlling it once again.
Devil sticks are thought to have originated in China, where they were used in traditional dances and juggling acts, possibly dating back to 200 years ago. These early versions were probably crafted from bamboo and featured props such as batons with cloth coverings and weighted tips, which were then controlled with two separate sticks.
