The fastest swim crossing of the North Channel in relay is 8 hours 15 minutes 21 seconds, achieved by "The Olympic Club" team, comprising Catherine Breed, Allison Arnold, Felicia Lee, Matt Korman, John Piirainen and Thomas Dowley (all USA) on 25 June 2023, as ratified by the Irish Long Distance Swimming Association. They departed from near Islandmagee, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, and ended north of Portpatrick, Dumfries & Galloway in Scotland, UK, piloted by Ian Conroy on the vessel ÉIGRÍOCH.


As per ILDSA rules, the route must follow the Admiralty Chart 2198, Southern Part which measures 18.6 nautical miles (35 kilometres; 21.5 miles).

This beat the previous record of 9 hours 2 minutes 41 seconds achieved by the "OA Giants" - Keith Garry, Dominic Mudge, Bill Donnelly, Chris Judge, Colin Lindsay and John McElroy (all Ireland) – on 2 August 2020.
