The first female player drafted by the National Basketball Association (NBA) was Lusia Harris (USA), drafted by the New Orleans Jazz with the 137th pick, on 10 June 1977.

Denise Long (USA) was selected by the San Francisco Warriors in the 1969 draft, however the league voided the Warriors' selection, meaning Lusia Harris was the first female officially drafted into the NBA.

Harris never featured in a competitive fixture for an NBA team. She has, however, been inducted to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and Women's Basketball Hall of Fame.
