The most women’s singles medals won at the BWF World Championships is five, achieved by Zhang Ning (China) between 2001 and 2007; and PV Sindhu (India) between 2013 and 2019.
Double Olympic champion Ning won a gold, two silvers and two bronze at the BWF World Championships. Sindhu matched her tally with her first gold medal, obtained in a 38-minute final win against Nozomi Okuhara on 25 August 2019 at St. Jakobshalle in Basel, Switzerland.
