Australia’s women recorded 26 One-Day International (ODI) wins on the bounce between 12 March 2018 and 24 September 2021. On 4 April 2021, they vanquished New Zealand by six wickets at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui, New Zealand, to register a 22nd consecutive victory in the limited-overs format. That win took them clear of Ricky Ponting’s Australian men’s team, who had posted 21 ODI wins in succession between 11 January and 24 May 2003.
Australia’s 26 victories were against India (5; three away, two home), Pakistan (3; all in Malaysia), New Zealand (9; six home, three away), England (3; all away), West Indies (3; all away) and Sri Lanka (3; all home). They played six of the matches in 2018, 12 in 2019, three in 2020 and five in 2021.
Australia finally met their match in the final game of the 2021 home series against India, at the Ray Mitchell Oval in Harrup Park, Mackay, on 26 September. The visitors won by two wickets to end the winning streak at 26 matches, but still lost the series 2-1.
Australia were captained by Meg Lanning for 24 of the ODI wins, with Rachael Haynes stepping in for the other two matches. Multiple Player of the Match award-winners during the side’s winning run were Alyssa Healy (5), Lanning (3), Ellyse Perry (3), Haynes (3), Nicole Bolton (2), Megan Schutt (2) and Ashleigh Gardner (2).
