The fastest recorded Ice Mile under International Ice Swimming Association regulations by a male swimmer is 19 minutes 27 seconds, set by Marcin Szarpak (Poland) in an outdoor pool at Kąpielisko Skałka in Świętochłowice, Poland, on 12 March 2023. The average water temperature was 4.35°C (39.8°F).


This comes off the back of Szarpak also setting a new record for the fastest 1 km ice swim: 11 minutes 31.53 seconds at the 5th Ice Swimming World Championships in Samoëns, France, on 14 January 2023.

The current female record is 21 minutes 33 seconds, a record shared between Julia Wittig and Ines Hahn (both Germany) who swam together in Lake Wöhrsee in Burghausen, Bavaria, Germany on 20 December 2019.
