The latest instalment of a contest described as the “most important and fraught sporting rivalry in the world” took place at the ICC Cricket World Cup on 16 June 2019 when India (336 for 5) defeated Pakistan (212 for 6) by 89 runs on the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method after a rain-affected match at Old Trafford in Manchester, UK.

India have an unblemished 7-0 win-loss record in World Cup matches against Pakistan, but Pakistan lead the head to head in One-Day Internationals overall, with 74 wins to India’s 57. Pakistan won their last meeting before the 2019 World Cup, taking the honours in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017.
