Martina Navratilova (USA, b. Navratilova, who received a wild card for the Paris-based event, was 28 years 104 days older than her opponent. Dulko won the match 6-1, 6-3.

Navratilova had won 11 of her 18 Grand Slam singles titles before Dulko was born – with another two titles following in July (Wimbledon) and December 1985 (Australian Open – the last to be held in November-December before the event was moved to its current January slot).

On 1 July 2019 at Wimbledon, Cori “Coco” Gauff (b. 13 March 2004) – the youngest female tennis player to qualify for the main singles draw at Wimbledon (open era) – and Venus Williams (b. 17 June 1980) met in a first-round match, with Williams 23 years 270 days older than her opponent. It was the greatest age difference at a Grand Slam since Navratilova-Dulko in 2004.
