Tatort was developed by the German public-service broadcasting organisation Arbeitsgemeinschaft der öffentlich-rechtlichen Rundfunkanstalten der Bundesrepublik Deutschland (ARD). Regional members of the organisation, as well as partnering Austrian and Swiss national public-service broadcasting organisations, also help produce the TV show and contribute episodes which are unique to the area in which they are produced.
