England captain Eoin Morgan smashed 17 of the home side’s 25 maximums – setting new records for both an individual and a team in an international cricket match.

Six Afghanistan players cleared the boundary rope at least once in their total of 247 for 8, while Moeen Ali (4), Jonny Bairstow (3) and Joe Root (1) backed up Morgan’s assault on the bowling with sixes of their own.

Just two One-Day Internationals have produced more than 33 sixes, led by the 46 maximums struck by England (24) and the West Indies (22) at the National Cricket Stadium in St George’s, Grenada, on 27 February 2019.
