The first gas to gasoline (GTG) plant was operated by Turkmengas (Turkmenistan) in Ashgabat, Akhal, Turkmenistan, as verified on 28 June 2019.
The GTG plant completed construction on 31 December 2018, with the first production run completed on 17 March 2019. This is the first plant to put into industrial practice 'distillation" of natural gas into liquid fuel. 1.785 billion m³ of natural gas will be processed annually and 600,000 tons of gasoline A-92 (RON-92), meeting environmental requirements outlined by Euro-5 standard.
Laboratory analyses showed the octane number of gasoline produced in the trial operation to be 94.5, which means they also are able to produce gasoline deemed as 93+Euro 5 blue gasoline (93-95 octane category).
