Traditionally, gamers with disabilities have had to devise ways of playing games with existing controllers. But the Xbox Adaptive Controller (XAC) – the first official adaptive controller – made the technology fit the person, rather than the other way around. Microsoft began development of the device in 2015, eventually releasing it on 4 September 2018. The rectangular box includes a series of ports that correspond to the buttons on a Xbox One controller. This allows almost any combination of customized devices and controllers to be hooked up to an Xbox One or PC to meet particular requirements.
