The idea to break this record came as a natural progression of Brett love for the character Aquaman. He has been an Aquaman fan since he was a child and used to watch Super Friends with his father.
In 2011, with the launch of the DC Comics’ reboot “The New 52”, Brett started actively collecting Aquaman comics. Since then he has gone back to read and collect as much Aquaman as possible!
The passion for Aquaman is so strong that when he got engaged to his now-wife Michelle, Brett used the same proposal done by Aquaman in the comics!
As life is not all about happy moments, Aquaman has also been part of Brett's life during difficulties. During a bad period in 2017 something that greatly helped Brett was Aquaman comic issue number seven from the 1991 edition. In that issue, Aquaman confronts his past and own insecurities. This helped Brett during this hard period and as a result of this situation, he felt the necessity to have something to focus and work on. That was when he chose to become the world's biggest fan of the hero.
Adding to the fun familial connections to Aquaman, in 2019 it was announced that the character and Mera, his wife, would be welcoming a child. This news came while Brett's wife was pregnant with their first child. On top of this, the date the comic was coming out, 19 February 2020, was also Brett's son’s due date.
However, the baby came earlier though, being born on 29 January 2020, a day which just so happens to be Aquaman’s birthday!
