Inspired by George R R Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy novels, the show premiered in 2011. Over the course of eight seasons (the last of which originally aired on 14 April 2019), the series explores the dynastic power struggles played out in the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros and on the continent of Essos.
