In the comics Wolverine has spent most of his career as a team player as a fan-favourite member of the X-Men. Konami's 1992 X-Men game brought that team spirit to the arcades with a colossal cabinet capable of supporting up to six players at a time. To fit this many players, and assorted bad guys, into the same playing area, the game actually used two monitors to double the screen space available.
While the 1992 X-Men game was the first to support six gamers playing simultaneously, the 1976 videogame cabinet Tank 8 supported, as its name suggested, up to eight players at the same time. Driving game Sprint 8, released the following year, also supported eight-way play. The next game to feature six-way play after X-Men was Sega's Basketball title Hard Dunk in 1994.
