The British Academy Games Awards was established in 2004, originally focused on technical achievements, artistic quality and some degree of narrative recognition. From 2011 onward, a Performer category has been included – the first winner being Mark Hamill for his role as The Joker in Batman: Arkham City. On March 12, 2014, Ashley Johnson collected the Best Performer award for her portrayal of Ellie, becoming the first female actress to receive the trophy. Ashley was honoured the following year as Best Performer in The Last of Us: Left Behind.
