Thank U, Next by Ariana Grande (USA) attracted 307 million on-demand audio streams in the US in the week following the album’s release on 8 February 2019, easily surpassing the 126.7 million streams for Ed Sheeran’s ÷ (Divide) when it landed at No.1 on 25 March 2017. On Spotify in the US, Grande held the top nine positions for the week to 14 February 2019, led by “Break up with Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored” (22,675,728 streams) and “7 Rings” (22,236,010). In total, the 12 tracks from Thank U, Next had been streamed 166,408,992 times on Spotify as of 14 February, with only “Make Up” attracting less than 10 million spins for the week.


Only eight albums have posted bigger one-week streaming figures than Thank U, Next in the US – all of them from the rap/hip-hop genre. Drake’s Scorpion, with a mammoth 745.9 million on-demand audio streams for the 14 July 2018 chart week, still leads the way.

Thank U, Next debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200 on 23 February 2019 with 360,000 album-equivalent units. Of this total, 116,000 were pure album sales.
