Most collectable real-life species of animal in a videogame

According to the fan-updated Red Dead Redemption 2 wikia there are a total of 227 different species, breeds and legendary varieties of animal scattered around the map in Red Dead Redemption 2 that Arthur can, tame or collect, including 19 different types of horse and 15 different species of fish.

For comparison Assassin's Creed: Origins had 12 huntable animal types while Assassin's Creed: IV had 19 - while I've not been able to track down an exact figure for huntable animals on AC: Odyssey yet, available evidence points to a limited diversity of species – only five types of predator can be tamed and even including the 8 legendary animals it seems the game as way fewer than RDR2. Ark: Survival Evolved has 174 animal species, excluding various variants, DLC post-launch creatures and those available only in Arena mode. Including those Ark's creature count would be 350 different creatures, but this would not be comparing like to like in terms of game environment.

The original Red Dead Redemption featured just 38 varieties of animal, plus 4 legendary creatures.
