Robert “Bobby” Helms (USA, 1933–97) debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 on 18 August 1958 with “Borrowed Dreams”, but had to wait another 60 years 140 days for his first Top 10 entry, “Jingle Bell Rock”, which rose from No.13 to No.8 on 5 January 2019.
“Borrowed Dreams” debuted at No.60 on the third-ever Hot 100 countdown (the chart was inaugurated on 4 August 1958), but Helms did have US hits previously, including “Jingle Bell Rock” (No.6) and “My Special Angel” (No.7), both in 1957.
