US Dark Souls fan and Twitch streamer “m_d_c_t” (real name Stephen LaFlamme) took the immersive videogaming experience to new levels when he completed a full run of Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin from start to finish in character as The Chosen Undead, wearing a real suit of armour. He performed the feat in 3-6-hour bursts, finally completing his armour-clad adventure on 15 October 2018.

Direct quotes from m_d_c_t: “Well, the armour itself was an impulse buy and I thought it was a huge mistake. I figured that I should do something with it outside of going to a ren faire with some pals, and I'm a streamer, so. I figured I'd do a silly sort of roleplaying thing by playing Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin while wearing the suit.

Putting the suit on by myself is an ordeal. It takes like twenty minutes and is exhausting in and of itself - it's about 60 pounds total. It's a lot easier and more comfortable with help, but getting someone to help putting it on every week would be kind of unreasonable. When on, it's real tiring and weighs down from the shoulders real bad. That said, it's a lot more comfortable on the whole than you'd think.

With that said, my manual dexterity is mildly impaired from the armour, and my vision significantly so. If sitting at the maximum comfortable distance from my monitor (I'm mildly vision-impaired,) I can see maybe half of the screen total.

I did a complete run of DSII from start to finish, almost every nook and cranny, in 3 to 6 hour long sessions. I didn't wear the entire suit at first because I wasn't confident in my ability to put it on by myself, but I slowly moved to wearing the entire set.

I started but haven't finished DSIII due to a few problems - scheduling at first, and then getting kind of out of shape after getting sick repeatedly during the holidays. I'm going to start doing it again, soon.

As for more games on my list? Yeah, probably a few. I don't have any specific games in mind, but doing armoured streams is very much a feature of my channel from now on.”
