The song had reached number one in the chart, for the fourth time since its initial release in 1996, just one week beforehand as England were in the grips of World Cup fever. When they ultimately lost to Croatia in the semi-finals, sales of the song dropped off almost completely resulting in this record breaking drop.
Only four songs in chart history have dropped out of the top ten the week after being at number one.
