Anyone looking to add the “Zelda Test Cartridge NES” to their games collection can expect to pay around $2,000 (£1,569), according to PriceCharting.com. The rare, distinctly yellow, cartridge was used by Nintendo Authorized Repair Centers to test Nintendo hardware and was never released commercially. As of 3 December 2018, sales data shows that the cartridge – complete with a fully-working copy of The Legend of Zelda (1986) – has been bought and sold on auction sites on numerous occasions between 2010 and 2018. It fetched as much as $2,599 (£2,039) in one instance, but usually ending up at around the $2000 mark.
