On 23 October 2016, one of Ubisoft's best known game designers Michel Ancel took to Instagram to announce the rediscovery of a Rayman game for the Super NES, last worked on in 1992. The game would never see the light of day and was abandoned as Ubisoft instead turned to creating Rayman (1995) for the Sony PlayStation. Michel Ancel first posted an image from the game onto Instagram days earlier, stating that the "the game was playable on the Super Nintendo console but was never finished." he added "all these pixels are lost, like tears in the rain," referencing the famous Blade Runner movie quote. But, five days later, he posted an image of the prototype cartridge with the message: "Incroyable !!!! We have found the old unique Rayman SNES ROM !!!! It was sleeping for 24 years ..... Time to wake it up !!!!" (sic). It's thought that only one copy of the Super NES cartridge exists.
