Yasmeen Khan (b. 7 January 1999) was 19 years 225 days old when she captained Namibia Women against Malawi Women in a Twenty20 International (T20I) in Gaborone, Botswana, on 20 August 2018.

Arran Brindle (nee Thompson, b. 23 November 1981) was 19 years 260 days old when she skippered England against Scotland in a One-Day International (ODI) on 10 August 2001. Shemaine Campbelle (b. Guyana, 14 October 1992) was 19 years 338 days old when she led the West Indies against England in a T20I on 16 September 2012. Khan, Brindle and Campbelle are the only three women to captain an international team before their 20th birthday. In the men’s game, Rashid Khan (Afghanistan, b. 20 September 1998) was younger than all three women – 19 years 165 days – when he took charge of Afghanistan in an ODI against Scotland in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, on 4 March 2018. Note: this record includes appearances in all three international formats: Tests, ODIs and T20Is.

As of 13 November 2018, opening batsman/wicket-keeper Khan had played six T20Is for Namibia Women (all as part of the Botswana Cricket Association Women’s T20I Series in a six-day period following her debut on 20 August) and had a 100-per-cent win record. Namibia defeated Sierra Leone in the tournament final in Gaborone on 25 August 2018, with Khan knocking off almost half the required runs herself.

Namibia were one of a number of women’s cricket teams to benefit from an ICC ruling in April 2018 to grant full international status to all of its female members.
