Most videogame releases across generations of characters

Together, BJ Blazkowicz, Commander Keen, and the Doom Slayer have appeared in a combined total of 28 videogames.

Not only does BJ appear in no less than 11 of his own games (from 1992’s Wolfenstein 3D up to 2019’s Wolfenstein II: Youngblood), but it turns out that he’s also the grandfather of Billy Blaze, the hero of 5 Commander Keen games (from 1990’s Commander Keen: Invasion of the Vorticons to 2001’s Commander Keen), and the great grandfather of the Marine from 12 Doom games (from 1993’s original Doom to 2019’s Doom Eternal), bringing the total number of games across the generations of the Blazkowicz bloodline to 28. The heroic lineage was rumoured for many years and officially confirmed by id Software’s Tom Hall in a tweet on 30 January 2018.
