The very first real-life celebrity to appear as himself in the GTA world was Phil Collins (UK). The Chiswick-born Genesis singer/drummer and all-round 1980s icon appeared in GTA Vice City Stories, originally a PSP exclusive and later released on PS2 and PS3. Phil appears in three major missions – ‘Kill Phil’, ‘Kill Phil: Part 2’ and ‘In the Air Tonight’ – as well as playing in an in-game concert.

Other celebs have voiced characters, but none appeared as themselves before Phil did. Technically speaking, ‘Lazlow’ is a character voiced by real-life talk-show host Lazlow Jones – he’s not playing himself.
