Deepti Sharma and Punam Raut plundered 320 runs for India Women against Ireland Women at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom, South Africa, on 15 May 2017. The openers’ first-wicket stand was broken when Sharma was bowled for 188, and Raut then retired hurt after making 109. India totalled 358 for 2.

Until it was beaten by England (275 runs on 5 July 2017) and New Zealand (295 runs on 13 June 2018), the previous record had stood at 268 runs, by England on 8 August 2008. Therefore, Sharma and Raut smashed the existing record by 52 runs.

As of 25 October 2018, the male record stands at 372 runs, by Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels for the West Indies against Zimbabwe during an ICC World Cup match in Canberra, Australia, on 24 February 2015. One other ODI partnership has yielded more runs than Sharma and Raut’s 320 – Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid’s 331 for India against New Zealand on 8 November 1999.
