Chasing a victory target of 272, Ivory Coast slumped to seven all out in 7.3 overs in a T20 World Cup Sub Regional Africa Qualifier against hosts Nigeria at the Tafawa Balewa Square Cricket Oval in Lagos on 24 November 2024. Opener Ouattara Mohamed (4) was the only batter to score more than one run.

Six of the seven lowest team totals in T20 International history were made in 2024, with Ivory Coast’s 21 all out against Sierra Leone at the same venue 24 hours earlier another crushing defeat for the ICC associate-member nation.

On 5 September 2024, Mongolia’s short-lived record of 10 all out against Singapore – matching the Isle of Man’s capitulation against Spain on 26 February 2023 – had brought the unwanted record back into focus.

In matches involving more established cricketing nations, Netherlands’ 39 and 44 – both vs Sri Lanka – on 24 March 2014 and 22 October 2021, West Indies’ 45 and 55 – both vs England – on 8 March 2019 and 23 October 2021, and Afghanistan’s 56 vs South Africa on 26 June 2024 (in a T20 World Cup semi-final, no less) are all lame batting efforts that the teams in question would rather forget.
