If any game is built for speed-running it's Nintendo's New Super Luigi U (2013). It's short courses are designed to be completed in 100 seconds or less and are riddled with shortcuts that let you bypass huge chunks of the game – just a was the case with the original Super Mario Bros. all those years ago. The USA's "Mchan338" is the game's reigning speedster. His masterclass of leaping, gliding and sliding – as well as his exploitation of the game's shortcuts – allowed him to push Luigi through the game and its inevitable encounter with Boweser in 26 minutes and 23 seconds. His time, as verified by Speedrun.com, was posted on 14 January 2019. The gamer posted the message “First attempt of the day and PB’d!”, along with a video of his record-setting run.
