The fastest completion of the Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb – also known as the Race to the Clouds – is 7 minutes 57.148 seconds, achieved by Romain Dumas (France) in the Volkswagen electric race car I.D. R Pikes Peak on 27 June 2018. Driving at an average speed of more than 90 mph (144 km/h), Dumas beat the overall record of 8:13.878, set in 2013 by Sébastien Loeb in a Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak.
First staged in 1916, the Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC) is an invitational automobile and motorcycle hill climb on a public toll-road to the summit of Pikes Peak – America’s Mountain in Colorado, USA. It is held annually on the last Sunday of June. Competitors climb 14,115 ft (4,300 m) along a 12.42-mile (19.98-kilometres) course with 156 turns to the finish line at 4,720 ft (1,440 m).
