Muttiah Muralitharan (Sri Lanka) took a total of 166 wickets in 24 Test matches at Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo between 1992 and 2009. The spinner – Test cricket’s all-time leading wicket-taker with 800 victims – is also ranked second and third for single-venue Test success, with 117 wickets in 16 matches at Asgiriya Stadium in Kandy in 1993-2007, and 111 wickets in 15 matches at Galle International Stadium in 1998-2010. All three venues are in Sri Lanka.

Muralitharan was the only bowler to register more than 100 wickets at a single venue until England’s James Anderson joined the club on 12 August 2018, taking his 103rd wicket at Lord’s, London, UK, in a match against India.

Muralitharan played his 133rd and final Test on 18-22 July 2010, against India at Galle International Stadium, a match in which he took five Indian wickets in the visitors’ first innings, including Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar.
