The fastest time to row the Atlantic east to west by a male pair is 37 days 7 hours 54 minutes by David Spelman and Max Thorpe (both UK), who rowed from San Sebastian in La Gomera, the Canary Islands, Spain, to English Harbour, Antigua between 12 December 2019 and 18 January 2020. Team Resilient X completed their row at an average speed of 2.85 knots (5.27 km/h; 3.27 mph) on board Wolf.

This was Thorpe's second attempt at rowing the Atlantic; his first, in 2017, saw him nearly die after his boat caught fire and capsized.
