The most wins of the men’s Rugby World Cup Sevens is 3, by New Zealand in 2001, 2013 and 2018; and equalled by Fiji in 1997, 2005 and 2022.
Fiji defeated reigning champions New Zealand 29–12 in the 2022 Championship final on 11 September in Cape Town, South Africa, to seal their third Sevens World Cup title. It was the eighth staging of the men's tournament, which was inaugurated in 1993.
