When

When the Super Mario Bros. are on an adventure all eyes are usually on Mario, but in Mario is Missing (Nintendo, 1993), an educational platformer for the NES and SNES, it's Luigi who takes centre stage. In the game Mario is kidnapped by Bowser, leaving Luigi tasked with rescuing him – all while teaching geography. Luigi would have to wait until 2001 for his next starring role in Luigi's Mansion (Nintendo) on the GameCube.

A different version of Mario is Missing was released for PC (1993) and Mac (1994) which was a point-and-click adventure game – also starring Luigi – rather than a platformer.
