The most wins of the World Gravy Wrestling Championships by a woman is two, held jointly by Emma Slater (UK, winner in 2009, 2011) and Roxy Afzal, aka The Oxo Fox aka Foxy Roxy (UK, winner in 2017, 2018). The event has been held annually outside the Rose 'n' Bowl pub in Stacksteads, Lancashire, UK, since 2007, although the women's competition did not start until 2008.
The gravy wrestling competition was established in order to raise funds for the East Lancashire Hospice and competitors' nominated charities. Combat involves two-minute tussles between amateur wrestlers in a 1,500-litre pool of Lancashire gravy, with the winner of each bout going through to the next round. All competitors must be in fancy dress, as per the official rules, and "serious aggressiveness, roughness or unsportsmanlike conduct" is disallowed.
The 2018 winner in the women's category, Roxy Afzal, is a neonatal nurse from Manchester who wrestles while dressed as a fox.
