As of 22 August 2018, speedster Matthias Rustemeyer (aka "MR", Germany) held 29 of the available 32 non-shortcut course records for Mario Kart 64. As verified by Mario Kart tracking site www.mkwrs.com, the 32 hotly contested records include the fastest individual lap and the fastest three lap times for each of the game's 16 tracks. "MR" required just three records to be the first gamer to hold every Mario Kart 64 record at the same time – these were the fastest lap and three lap records for D.K.'s Jungle Parkway and the fastest lap for Mario Raceway.
