Grown by Travis Gienger (USA), the heaviest jack o'lantern was carved from a pumpkin that weighed 2,350 pounds (1,065.9 kilograms), as confirmed at the 47th Safeway World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off held in Half Moon Bay, California, USA, on 12 October 2020. Gienger transported the gigantic gourd back to his hometown of Anoka, Minnesota (the self-described "Halloween Capital of the World"), where he enlisted friend and experienced pumpkin carver Mike Rudolph (USA) to transform it into the "Tiger King" jack o'lantern for the town's 100th All Hallows Eve parade on 31 October 2020.
With a girth of 233 in (591.8 cm) from stem to blossom, this is also the largest jack o'lantern by circumference.
Both the weight and circumference were verified by representatives from the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth.
The "Tiger King" pumpkin was grown from an $80 seed that had come from a 1,501-lb (681-kg) pumpkin in Wisconsin. The pumpkin was harvested about six months after the seed was planted. Travis collected 200 seeds from the prodigious pumpkin, some of which he will keep and others of which he will donate/share with fellow pumpkin growers around the world.
It took Rudolph around eight hours to carve the enormous jack o'lantern in the style of a realistic roaring tiger, which was inspired by the popular Netflix series Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness.
