Between 1 July and 31 July 2018, the average daily temperature in Death Valley, California, USA, was 108.1 degrees Fahrenheit (42.3­ degrees Celsius), based on readings taken at a weather station near the Furnace Creek Visitor Center. The highest temperature reached over the month was 127 degrees Fahrenheit (52.7 degrees Celsius) on four consecutive days (24–27 July), while on 10 days across the month, the temperature did not drop below 100 degrees Fahrenheit (37.7 degrees Celsius).

This surpasses the monthly record that Death Valley only set in July 2017, when it had an average daily temperature of 107.4 degrees Fahrenheit (41.89 degrees Celsius) across the month, beating a mark which had stood till then for 100 years.

Death Valley also holds the title for highest temperature recorded on Earth, as verified by the World Meteorological Organization: 56.7 degrees Celsius (134 degrees Fahrenheit) on 10 July 1913.
