In 2001, with his induction into the Gospel Music Association’s Gospel Music Hall of Fame, Elvis Presley (USA, 1935-77) became the first musician to be inducted into three different Halls of Fame. Previously, “The King” had been inducted into the Country Music Association’s Country Music Hall of Fame in 1998, and in 1986 he was among the first 10 acts inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Presley was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame during a ceremony at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee, USA, on 27 November 2001. On this date, he moved ahead of Mahalia Jackson (Gospel, 1978; Rock and Roll, 1997), Jimmie Davis (Country, 1972; Gospel, 1994) and Tennessee Ernie Ford (Country, 1990; Gospel, 1994), who have all been inducted into two Halls of Fame.
