First playable female in the Far Cry series

When it released on 27 March 2018, Far Cry 5 became the first game in Ubisoft’s long-running first-person shooter with a playable female character. At the beginning of the game, players can customize their character. As well as choosing between being male or female, it’s also possible to alter facial features, skin tone, eye colour and other aspects of the character you play as during the game. The first Far Cry game was released on 23 March 2004, making this the first time in over 14 years that players could play as a female character.
