The 20 tracks from Midnights by Taylor Swift (USA) accumulated 549.26 million on-demand official streams as it debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200 with 1.578 million album equivalent units on 5 November 2022. Just two albums – both by rapper Drake – have posted a higher figure: 745.92 million for Scorpion (2018) and 743.67 million for Certified Lover Boy (2021).
Streaming giants Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music reported record-shattering figures for Midnights and some of its individual tracks, notably “Anti-Hero”, “Lavender Haze” and “Snow on the Beach” (feat. Lana Del Rey). In the first 24 hours alone (21 October 2022), Midnights amassed 184,695,609 streams worldwide on Spotify – their most streamed album in 24 hours – which propelled Swift’s music to 228 million single-day streams worldwide on the same day – the most streamed act on Spotify in 24 hours.
Midnights dwarfed the 303.23 million tallied by Swift’s previous US streaming champion Red (Taylor’s Version) in 2021.
