In July 1973, Taito created and launched its first arcade coin-op cabinet, the black and white Elepong (Taito, 1973). In the same month, Sega also released Pong-Tron (Sega, 1973), making both companies the longest-running arcade machine manufacturers.
Since Taito created Elepon, it has produced machines on a regular basis, most latterly releasing Left 4 Dead: Survivors in 2014 – 41 years later. During that time, most others companies gave up releasing arcade machines. Sega continues to create arcade titles too, launching Blade Arcus from Shining in 2014.
