Neutron stars are the densest stars in the universe. A sand-grain size of neutron star material would have the mass of a skyscraper. Neutron stars are the remnants of massive stars that, after exhausting their nuclear fuel, explode and collapse into super-dense spheres. Their density is due to their intense gravity, which can crushes matter equivalent to 1.4 times the content of the sun, or at least 460,000 Earths, into a stable orb the size of a city.
