The 2D sandbox action-adventure game Terraria, which has been likened to a cross between Minecraft and Metroid, was released for the Xbox 360, via Xbox Live Arcade, on 27 March 2013. Perhaps because it had been available since 16 May 2011 on PC, Xbox 360 owners were startlingly quick out of the blocks. But the person behind the Xbox Live Gamertag "ConcludedFever9" won the race, completing all 300 of the game's achievements on 2 April, less than a week after launch.
Terarria has never been one of those games that has enjoyed much limelight, but it's nevertheless a huge, unsung success – publisher 505 Games announced that it had passed the 20-million sales mark in February 2017. That's partly because it has appeared on so many platforms: it's available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, iOS and Android, and in 2017, 505 Games announced that it will also come to Nintendo's Switch.
It's one of the game industry's best-kept secrets.
