Paweł Fajdek (Poland) recorded the competition’s highest-ever overall score of 248.48 in 2017, and won gold that year at the IAAF World Championships in London, UK.
The IAAF Hammer Throw challenge is an annual competition that began in 2010. The scoring system takes each athlete’s three best marks from the series and equates metres to points.
Prize money is awarded to the top 12 finishers at the end of the challenge.
Only two other athletes besides Fajdek have won it – Koji Murofushi in 2010 and Krisztián Pars in 2011, 2012 and 2014.
